An Address of Valediction to Bid Farewell to Brother Rodney Struble, CSC Print E-mail

Our Very Dear Brother Rodney! We, the members of the Notre Dame Family, viz., teachers, office staff and maintenance staff have assembled this evening to express our appreciation and convey our sincere gratitude to you for having served this beloved institution of ours for long 25 years in so many ways. You have been an imitable model for us and for our students by your gracious presence on the campus and your performance of duties. Your dedication and commitment to the life you have chosen for yourself and the assignments that you gladly accepted in a spirit of obedience have made a lasting impression on our minds.
As the Director of Martin Hall you took care of the boys like an affectionate mother who is deeply concerned for the total well-being of her children. Like a good shepherd you guided them, you helped them grow up physically, intellectually, morally and spiritually. You helped them learn discipline in life, regular study habits, sense of responsibility, respect for one another, spirit of obedience to their parents and obligation to their families. You took special care of those who were weak in studies, those who got sick. You provided remedial classes for the weakest among them. As a result the percentage of passes of the Martin Hall students has been cent percent or nearly cent percent. You have encouraged them to be good sportsmen and athletes. In the annual sports competition the Martin Hall boys were among the best ones. Time and again you organized tournaments, sports competitions and cultural programs for the boys. On special occasions you inspired them to celebrate life joyfully and enjoy boro khana. You have been a true guide and an excellent mentor to them. During the past twenty-five years at least 1000 students have gone through the Martin Hall Work Program and successfully completed their Intermediate level studies. Thanks to your sympathetic and wise direction and special care you provided, most of those boys have found a respectable place in the society. Even though they came from poor socio-economic background, the opportunity for education that Notre Dame provided has helped them to pursue higher studies. As a result some of them have become doctors, lawyers, bankers, school and college teachers. Some others have joined the priesthood or the religious life. Besides all these you took special classes for theMartin Hall students and taught in the Post-HSC seminary program and in the Special English Course. Your contribution in all these areas has been immense.
As the Director of Maintenance you managed the workers very wisely. Under your guidance each worker became responsible, dependable and faithful to duty. They were able to develop and use their skill wisely. You helped them build up a community spirit among them, so much so that they enjoy working together. You taught each and every employee to perform their duties to the best of their abilities and be accountable for their action. Notre Dame campus is considered by all as an ideal and healthy place and the campus environment is appreciated for its cleanliness due to proper maintenance.
We thank the Almighty God for what you have been to us and for us. And for all these we would like to say to you today a big "Thank You". You have certainly made our life on this campus pleasant and joyful. May God bless you abundantly. May we ask you to keep Notre Dame College, all the students and their guardians, and all of us in your daily prayers.
Finally we wish you a restful vacation, an enriching and fruitful sabbatical, comforting and fulfilling reunion with your family members and the CSC community in the States. Bon Voyage, Bro. Rodney! You are welcome to visit us whenever you have an opportunity.
